Why You Should Buy a Cheap Scooter

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Barely 20 years ago the cost of gas was under $1.00 a gallon. Today, with prices escalating to almost $4.00 and back again, we’re relieved when gas “sinks” to $3.00 a gallon! A lot of drivers have decided that things are not quite right, and they’re taking action.  A considerable number of them are choosing a more tactical way to go about their business, and quite a few of them are buying a Cheap Scooter that operates on less gas or an electric motor scooter that doesn’t use gas at all.

Gas prices have gotten to the point where just continuing our status quo of minimal driving habits is beginning to penetrate the rest of our life. To have enough gas month we either we have to let go of something else or give up going out at all. The solution would seem simple: purchase a cheap scooter to drive to work or to use on short trips around town. You would be amazed at how much gas (and money) you can save simply by switching to a scooter to go to and from your job! There are cheap scooters that can go 75 miles per hour, and are legal on the freeway so you don’t have to live necessarily close to work to take this option.

In addition to saving you money on gas, a cheap scooter can be an enjoyable way to get to and from work. It’s true that you can legally drive between cars and move to the head of the line when traffic halts, but it is also true that you will derive a certain pleasure in driving one of these scooter as well.  Who could ask for more from a pair of wheels? You can buy a great scooter for around two thousands dollars, and the money saved on gas will amply pay that back in no time! Another fantastic thing about scooters is you’ll always get the perfect spot in front of stores and restaurants, instead of having to park in a lot somewhere. As a result, your cheap scooter will not only save you money, but time as well! And, one last bonus, a lot of other individuals are deciding on a cheap scooter from their ride, so you might meet new people and who knows where that might lead?

Cheap Scooters, Are They Worth it?

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

What’s in a word, Cheap? That question poses some interesting thought. Do you mean dirt cheap or
economically cheap?

It’s a very important question, because today’s cutting edge Motor Scooters go for over six thousand dollars. However, the answer depends on a handful of important conditions and assumptions. Let’s examine the context here–then we’ll be able to speak to the viability of cheap motor scooters.

According to Aj Vanterhorst “First, the answer depends on what you mean by “cheap.” In the world of motor scooters, there’s cheap–as in a smart, economical buy–and then there’s DIRT CHEAP–as in a rock bottom, is-this-for-real? purchase. At this point, stop and ask yourself: “What kind of dividends do I want to enjoy from my scooter?”

If you’re looking for a trick stand-up scooter to ride around in your neighborhood, I’ll cut to the chase here: a stripped-down model from a small manufacturer may work out OK. As long as you know what you’re buying, you won’t have high expectations for durability or gas mileage. You won’t use your scooter in tough conditions, and you won’t be shocked if it breaks. However, if you want your motor scooter to last for years, be a long term investment, and save you money on your commute or highway travel, the dirt cheap option is absolutely not for you.”

All the top makers of scooters, offer models that range from cheap to expensive. It really depends on your needs. Do you need highway speed, long range travel, or off-road use.

Most get 100-140 miles per gallon, very fuel efficient and insurance is usually a bargain also. They are easy to operate and they are becoming a common site in urban settings. Teachers, students, lawyers and business professionals are all catching the bug.

If you want a scooter that does it all, you may be looking to pay $6,000 or more.

Aj goes on to say, that “while it’s true that  a Cheap Scooter will pay for itself in the long run (traveling for as little as four cents a mile has that effect), not everyone wants to shell out six grand up front. And you can still get plenty of bang for your buck for $2000 or less. For example, if you want an economical scooter for short-range, local use, and 12-15 mph satisfies your need for speed, then you’ll be able to discover new models that match your needs in the $1000-$2000 price range.”

So bascially you can catigorize scooters as dirt cheap or economically “smart” cheap. Either way they are in high demand.

Thank you to Aj Vanderhorst for his great article.

Let me hear your comments!

The Indian Scout motorcycle was the celebrity of the Indian motorcycle line from 1920 until 1939. Indian Scout motorcycles were used by police, by motorcycle racers, and during World War II. During the war, Indian made aircraft engines, motors for boats, air conditioners, and bicycles. Perhaps the most revered Indian Scout motorcycle was the 1928 101 Scout, with its lower slung frame and improved handling.

Indian Scout motorcycle went through some changes since its arrival in 1920. While it was introduced with an engine size of 37 cubic inch (596 cc) by 1927 it was increased to 45 cubic inches (745 cc). This came as a reaction to the American built motorcycle Excelsior Super X, which had a 45 cubic inch engine.

When 101 Scout was introduced in 1928 the Indian Motorcycle fans felt that it was the ultimate in Indian Motorcycle technology. However Scout started using the body of another Indian’s famous model called Chief in 1931 which pleased its admirers to no end.

Between 1932 and 1941 the Scout fans saw a succession of smaller Scout motorcycles which may have been done to please its supporters. These motorcycles had small engines of only 30.50 cubic inch and were called Scout Pony, the Junior Scout, and the Thirty-Fifty.

The early 20th century saw the rise of two giants Indian Motorcycle Company and Harley Davidson in USA for motorcycle lovers. The rivalrybetween the companies is well-known and has been printed in a book called The Harley-Davidson and Indian Wars by Allan Girdler. While Scout ruled the world of motorcycles Harley-Davidson was equally powerful.

There is some interesting informatios concerning the road worthiness of 1920 model of Scout motorcycle. The motorcycle racer Burt Munro set out to make a world record in speed on land with a Scout between 1962 and 1967. He succeeded in making an unbeatable record with under-1000cc. The amazing part was when Munro made the record he was 68 years old riding a 47 years old motorcycle. There were some more examples and everything taken together was made into a movie named World’s Fastest Indian in 2005.

In 1935, controlling shares in Indian Motorcycles was sold, and production of all Indian Scout motorcycle models halted in 1946. Over the decades, the company changed hands, going bankrupt in 1977. Fights over ownership of the brand name played out in court throughout the 80s and 90s.

Finally, in December 98, the claim was settled in Federal court in Denver. IMCOA Licensing America, Inc. was given the trademark, and the Indian Motorcycle Company of America was shaped as a conglomerate of nine companies. Production began again in 99, and Scout models were manufactured from 2001 to 2003, until the company went bankrupt again.

In 2006, the company re-formed and set up shop in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Though the Chief model is being reconstructed, the Indian Scout motorcycle is no longer made.

The feeling that a true lover of the Indian scout motorcyclegets from riding is not easy to put into words. If you’re thinking about purchasing one, check out this page on Indian motorcycle dealers.
